The proposals involved bringing the White Cart Water walkway from the edge of Paisley at Jenny's Well, downstream into the Town Centre.
White Cart Walkway Landscape Design
The objective of Phase 1 was to establish a network of footpaths through a nature reserve and to bring new life to the previously derelict site. This was achieved through:
- Transformation of a disused railway bridge parapet into a viewing platform
- Creation of large areas of native woodland planting to diversify the wildlife habitats and create a strongly defined series of spaces
- Sturdy detailing using native hardwood and ornamental metalwork
ASH services for the project included:
- Feasibility study
- Landscape design
- Contract supervision
Awards and Recognition
The Nature Reserve was runner up in the 'Understanding the Natural Heritage' category of Nature's Prize 1996 - a national competition sponsored by Scottish Natural Heritage, SHELL, Expo and Grampian Television.
