It was agreed with the Council, as planning authority, that in view of the low output, a full Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) would not be required but that a Planning Statement should be submitted as part of the application.
Whitecrook Quarry Replacement
ASH designed a site investigation by test pitting to characterise the sand deposit that was carried out by the operator. Critical to the design of the extraction scheme was access to and potential views of the site from the A75 and the phased restoration of the site.
An application and statement was prepared and submitted to Dumfries and Galloway Council. In response to a request from the Council and prior to the application being approved, a sample soil strip was carried out that revealed the possible presence of Iron Age archaeology.
