What we did
ASH was appointed to examine the environmental issues related to alternative improvement options.
ASH carried out a review of the possible phasing of improvements and assisted in the public exhibition and consultation process.
The preferred route had overwhelming public support during the public consultation process and was detailed in the Phase 2 Environmental Statement (published in 2004).
ASH prepared detailed landscape mitigation schemes for both phases and these included innovative proposals for cut slope stabilisation and snow shelter planting.
ASH was retained to supervise the landscape implementation and maintenance works. The scheme has been operational since July 2011.
