ASH carried out assessments to identify the likely effects of Edinburgh Tram routes
ASH was commissioned as Landscape Architects on behalf of Transport Initiatives Edinburgh (TIE) to investigate and assess Tram Routes 2 and 3 as part of a larger network of tram routes throughout the City of Edinburgh.
A number of alternatives were considered. Analyses of a wide number of factors were undertaken including: engineering feasibility, traffic and transport, safety, environmental effects, policy, economics, accessibility, and the extent to which the scheme integrated with other transport infrastructure.
Key Tasks
Route options appraisal
Landscape and visual impact assessment
Stakeholder consultation
Landscape design guide

What we did
As part of the application for the development, Environmental Impact Assessments were prepared, to identify the likely environmental effects of Tram Lines 2 & 3. ASH’s role was to carry out Landscape and Visual assessments; prepare outline landscape mitigation proposals; assist in the preparation of a Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidance (STAG) assessment; contribute to a Design Guide for the tram system as a whole; and provide Expert Witness support at Parliamentary Inquiry.
