What we did
ASH was commissioned by RWE in 2009 to undertake the scoping exercise for the 9MW scheme and subsequently commissioned to carry out the Environmental Impact Assessment. ASH undertook the landscape and visual assessment, land use and recreation assessment and planning review aspects of the project in-house and co-ordinated ecological and archaeological aspects by local specialist sub-consultants. ASH also played an important advisory role in the design of the scheme, providing illustrative graphics for the proposal, and attending public exhibitions where the scheme was presented to the local community.
The 9MW Pattack scheme was consented by Scottish Ministers in 2015. With the exception of Glendoe Hydro Scheme, River Pattack comprises the largest conventional hydro scheme to be granted planning permission in the UK for 50 years.
A modified verison of the consented scheme has been developed by the landowners Ardverikie Estate and ASH was retained to advise the project engineers Gilkes and Cairneyhill Ltd, on environmental matters for the modified scheme.
